Passengers enjoying First Class check-in at T5 are now surrounded by Vitrafol™ glass graphics. Vitrafol Ltd, a Bromsgrove based company specialising in graphics for glass, has successfully installed at T5 a variety of printed films onto existing safety glass.
VF Digital™ film prints have been developed as an alterative to printing directly onto glass or laminates. These films enable architects and designers to combine high definition graphics, increased glass safety and improved product flexibility.
Working closely with the British Airways design team, Vitrafol installed a variety of bespoke graphics at Check-In and Lounge locations. These included special cherry wood simulations for desks and wall panels as well as a variety of patterns for walls and separator screens.
Some designs required the use of patterned and graduated white on clear glass, an area which Vitrafol™ has specialised in for the last two years.
“Our edge was product to glass compatibility, great graphics, flexible in-situ installation and most importantly speed. With the tight deadlines set by our clients and a fluid design requirement, we were able to convert designs into installed printed films sometimes within twenty four hours.” says Francisco Serrano, Managing Director of Vitrafol Ltd. “I know that what we achieved at T5 was a first and our toughest test so far. We have clearly set a standard as we are now working on Terminal 3” |
